Cheryl and her husband, Charles (a full time farmer), operate DeBerry Farm Fresh Produce, a small family farm selling fresh vegetables, berries, herbs, melons, and processed foods at area farmers markets and through a vegetable subscription service. The farm is in horticulture zone 5 (in a good year) and they use season extension technologies such as high tunnels, plastic mulch, row cover, etc. Cheryl created and maintains the farm website, www.DeBerryFarm.com along with the farm blog and other farm communications and marketing.
In her “day job,” Cheryl serves as the Agriculture Marketing Specialist for the Department of Economic Development for Garrett County, Maryland. In this position, she helps business-owners write business and marketing plans, advises local farmers markets, developed a buy local logo campaign, researches and develops new markets for local products, serves as a liaison between natural resource based businesses and local/state agencies, and developed/maintains web sites for locally produced products.
