The Farmers Market Coalition is possible with the support of its members.  In addition, FMC works in collaboration with a variety of agencies and organizations. We work in cooperative partnership with the Wallace Center at Winrock International with support from the USDA Risk Management Agency, and collaborate with the Community Food Security Coalition with support from the Healthy Eating Active Living Convergence Partnership.  FMC is grateful to the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service and the Ford Foundation, which provided essential start-up and operating funding during the formation of FMC in between 2006 and 2008.

FMC is also supported, and greatly strengthened, by its member markets and organizations. Embedded in our belief in farmers markets is the recognition that no single organization has the final word on what’s best for markets. Our membership in the National Farmers Market Consortium allows us to work alongside many forward-thinking national agencies and organizations to address some of the most pressing issues facing farmers markets.

Project for Public Spaces has tirelessly worked to improve farmers markets’ abilities to better animate public spaces.

National Association of Farmers’ Markets Nutrition Programs has long fought to improve and expand the effectiveness of farmers markets as vehicles for improving senior and child nutrition.

National Association of Produce Market Managers has anchored many public and terminal markets under threat from urban developers for more than 60 years.

State farmers market associations have quietly built the capacity of individual markets, and more are formed each year. We salute and support these and other efforts and organizations whose work touches farmers markets.

We join hands with them. We also ask them, others, and you to join hands with us as partners. We need your help disseminating new information and communicating your experiences — whether you are farmer, health professional, parent looking for fresh food and health places for your family, or citizen seeking safe public spaces in an otherwise dangerously private world.
