Farmers market managers, vendors and those who want to start or grow farmers markets in their communities can learn new strategies, find out about available resources and take advantage of networking opportunities at the third annual Farmers Market Forum, Feb. 16, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the Indiana Farm Bureau, 225 S. East St., Indianapolis.

The forum is a collaboration of Purdue Extension, Indiana Cooperative Development Center and the Indiana State Department of Health.

“Everyone attending the forum will have an opportunity to consult with presenters for answers related to their specific situation and explore a deeper dive into two important topics – market fiscal management and increasing customer traffic, including those on food assistance programs,” said Jodee Ellett, Purdue Extension Local Foods Coordinator.

Participants will receive updates from a number of state agencies and organizations that support farmers markets, including the Indiana State Departments of Health and Agriculture, Purdue Extension and the Family and Social Service Administration. Topics include food regulation, food assistance programs, learning resources and networking event information.

Cost is $30. Lunch and materials will be provided.
