Discover You Can 2011 Markets Announced

The Farmers Market Coalition (FMC) and Jarden Home Brands are excited to announce that fifty FMC member farmers market organizations have been selected to participate in the 2011 Discover You Can program.  Discover You Can is sponsored by Jarden Home Brands, the makers of Ball® Brand Fresh Preserving Products, which is launching a pilot canning education program in partnership with FMC this summer.

The selected 50 organizations will receive a canning starter kit including Ball® Brand products and outreach materials to help educate their community on the benefits of buying and preserving local, seasonal food.  The list of selected participating markets is available here. These organizations will receive welcome kits and canning materials from Jarden Home Brands by mid-May.

In two short weeks, during one of the busiest times of the year for market managers, the Discover You Canprogram received more than 100 applications.
