Farmers market operators, are you looking for support in transforming your market into a place of belonging for community members of color? Apply to the Anti-Racist Farmers Market Toolkit Community of Practice!

Join Farmers Market Coalition (FMC) and creators of the Anti-Racist Farmers Market Toolkit for a 6-month deep dive on applying anti-racist principles to your farmers market. This Community of Practice will provide a space of support and accountability for individuals and organizations actively running farmers markets. Sessions will focus on applying and implementing the Anti-Racist Farmers Market Toolkit. Participants can expect to hear presentations from the work group members who created the toolkit, and have time to process the material through activities, resource sharing, and facilitated discussions in affinity groups.

Guided by Head Facilitator Sagdrina Jalal, Lead Researcher Nedra Deadwyler, and FMC staff, this Community of Practice will focus on topics, themes, and ideas from the toolkit identified by readers.

A tentative topics schedule:
  • Mission (Nov/Dec)
  • Management (Jan/Feb)
  • Messaging (Mar)
  • Measurement (April)
  • Within the 4Ms topics such as partnerships & networks, community engagement, and implementing culturally relevant programming will be discussed

The community of practice will meet for an hour and a half at a time on the second week of every month. All meetings will be conducted virtually over Zoom.

Apply to join the community of practice by October 16th. No experience is required but an interest in fostering farmers markets as agents of community change is a must. Priority will be given to those individuals and organizations currently operating or supporting a farmers market.
