Ethel Recinos

Ethel is the Logistics and Communications Associate for the GusNIP Program. As an Iowan, she grew up witnessing the negative community and environmental effects of a broken food system and mass agriculture. While at the University of Iowa, Ethel was introduced to the term “food justice” and since then has been involved in food systems and community work. She’s worked on initiatives to make local food accessible to low-income communities and offered direct social services to immigrants and refugees in Iowa. She’s also used her journalism and media training to create content for a food security organization in Guatemala.  Ethel is excited to join the FMC team and combine her passion for media and food justice to help make local foods and farmers markets accessible for all.
