EBT in Farmers Markets Fiscal Year 2012 Funding Letter
On May 26th, 2011, ten senators signed on to a letter written by Senator Tom Udall (NM) and the Farmers Market Coalition, urging their colleagues on the Appropriations Committee to support $4 million in funding for wireless POS at farmers markets in the Fiscal Year 2012 budget.
This funding, though tiny in relation to the overall USDA budget, could open a whole new chapter for farmers market viability and healthy communities.
Senators Tom Udall, Patrick Leahy, Carl Levin, Robert Menendez, Jeff Bingaman, Kirsten Gillibrand, Ron Wyden, Jack Reed, Frank Laudenberg, Mark Begich, and Bernard Sanders are all signatories on this important request.
If your senator is on this list, tell them THANK YOU! Their support makes a huge difference.
If your senator is not on the list, ask them WHY. Every voice counts, so make yours heard.
