Seeking Farmers to Help Predict Frost
Posted On: March 30, 2017
A group of Penn State University meterology students and founders of Innovation Weather, LLC, are looking for farmers across the country, particularly fruit and vegetable growers, to help test and provide feedback on software that can predict the probability of frost formation.
This software aims to predict the total hours below freezing, as well as total hours below 28 and zero degrees fahrenheit. The students are also interested in knowing critical temperatures that are important to farmers to further refine their software model.
Participating farmers will be asked to test the software and provide feedback over a 2-4 week period. Farmers interesting in participating are asked to contact Seth Cohen at smc1076@psu.edu or 240-499-5448.
