      Posted On: July 6, 2023

In an effort to improve the recently introduced Local Farms and Food Act and to seek a reduction in Matching Funds required as part of the Farmers Market Promotion Program (FMPP) and the Local Food Promotion Program (LFPP) grants, FMC recently circulated a sign-on letter among our networks.

The letter has accumulated incredible support, with two hundred and ninety-one signatories spanning across forty-two states, highlighting the growing need for a more accessible and equitable local food system. The sign-on letter has been shared with House and Senate Ag Committee leadership, including Congressman G.T. Thompson, Congressman David Scott, Senator Debbie Stabenow, and Senator John Boozman.

By refining the grant requirements, we can make impactful strides toward supporting our local farmers and food producers, ensuring that our communities continue to thrive sustainably.

Thank you for your efforts to create a more equitable local food system that truly serves all stakeholders.
