Southwest New Mexico Food Hub to extend local foods

“Local farmers gathered at The Volunteer Center of Grant County on Monday to hear about a new program called the Southwest New Mexico Food Hub and how it can help them get more of their produce to markets farther afield.

The National Center for Frontier Communities, a nonprofit organization in Silver City, received a $125,000 three-year grant from the United States Department of Agriculture to create the Food Hub. This is the second year for the grant and will be the year the Food Hub gets up and running. 

The Food Hub is intended to sell local farmers’ produce to other markets across the state, in Las Cruces, Albuquerque and more. “
