West Virginia’s Agriculture Dept. to oversee state’s farmers markets
Posted On: May 7, 2018
With more than 120 West Virginia farmers markets in operation, the state’s Department of Ag will step in to oversee the vast growth, a measure included in 2018 Legislature.
“The new law transfers the rules and regulations for farmers’ markets from the Department of Health and Human Resources to the Department of Agriculture. It also changes permitting processes for vendors and markets. Previously, licensing for the markets had been the responsibility of local health departments.”
